About Us

A quiet community with a steady faith.

STPP Church is a Christian congregation in the United Kingdom. We are small enough to know one another by name, and committed enough to keep showing up — in good weather and in hard seasons.

Our Beginnings

STPP Church traces its roots to a small group of neighbours who began meeting to pray, study scripture, and share meals in one another’s homes. Over the decades, what started as conversation at a kitchen table grew — slowly, and without much fanfare — into the congregation we are today.

Our name carries the memory of two early Christian witnesses whose lives shaped much of what we still practice: hospitality to the stranger, letters of encouragement written across distance, and a refusal to let difficulty silence hope.

What We Believe

We hold to the historic Christian faith, summarised in the creeds of the early church. At its centre is the conviction that God has drawn near to us in Jesus Christ — and that this nearness reshapes how we live, love, forgive, and care for the world around us.

We read the Bible together carefully and prayerfully. We receive the sacraments of baptism and communion. We believe the Holy Spirit continues to guide, comfort and renew those who seek God.

Our guiding values

  • Welcome without conditions. Every visitor is received as they are — no one has to earn a seat among us.
  • Honest faith. We make space for doubt, questioning and slow growth. Pretending is not required.
  • Practical love. We believe compassion is measured by what it does, not only by what it says.
  • Quiet stewardship. We use our resources modestly and transparently, always in service of people over projects.
  • Partnership. We gladly work alongside other churches, charities and community groups who share our hope for a kinder world.

Our People

Our congregation is a mix of families, single adults, older members, students and those simply exploring faith. We are imperfect, and we are honest about it. What holds us together is not agreement on every question but a shared trust that love, patiently practised, is stronger than fear.

Our leadership is made up of volunteer trustees and lay ministers drawn from within the congregation. Decisions are made prayerfully and in consultation with members.

Registered Status

STPP Church operates as a Christian charitable community in the United Kingdom. Our governance follows UK charity best practice: annual reporting, trustee oversight, and transparent use of any donations received. Financial stewardship is a matter of faith for us, not only compliance.

A word to anyone considering a visit

You do not need to believe anything in particular to walk through our doors. You do not need to dress a certain way. You do not need to know anyone. You will be met with tea, a warm greeting, and the freedom to sit quietly if that is what the day requires.

If that sounds like something you would like, please write to us. We will happily answer any question and let you know when we next meet.
